In the first half of 2026, Australia made notable progress in renewable energy, commissioning five new generation projects that collectively add 1.4 GW of capacity, along with nine utility-scale battery storage projects contributing an additional 2.3 GW. According to the Clean Energy Council (CEC), these initiatives represent an investment exceeding AUD 2.8 billion. The surge in large-scale renewable energy investments has already outpaced the total from all of 2025, with the CEC reporting that 12 projects have achieved a final investment decision, amounting to 2.6 GW of new capacity. This growth is largely driven by solar farms and hybrid solar-and-battery projects, highlighting Australia's commitment to a sustainable energy future.
