Elephant Madhuri returns to Kolhapur after rehabilitation

Madhuri, a female elephant who had lived at Nandani Math in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, for over three decades, has successfully completed more than a year of specialized rehabilitation at Vantara in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Upon her arrival at Vantara, Madhuri faced severe mobility issues, advanced arthritis, and chronic foot rot—conditions that had developed due to years of restricted movement and harsh living circumstances. Being tethered and used for public events further limited her mobility and caused significant trauma. The rehabilitation process at Vantara was comprehensive, involving a multidisciplinary team that included veterinarians, caregivers, and nutritionists. Under the guidance of Anant Ambani, Madhuri underwent various treatments aimed at improving her physical health and emotional well-being. The rehabilitation program featured hydrotherapy, laser therapy, targeted nutrition, and specialized foot care.
