IN-SPACe Grants Seed Funding to Six Indian Space Startups
On October 29, 2026, India's IN-SPACe awarded seed grants of up to ₹1 crore each to six private space companies. The total funding of ₹6 crore is aimed at promoting AI technologies in various space applications including precision landing and debris detection.

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has taken a significant step to enhance innovation in the private space sector by selecting six startups for seed-fund grants under its AI INSPIRED programme. Announced on October 29, 2026, this initiative will provide each selected entity with funding of up to ₹1 crore, amounting to a total outlay of ₹6 crore. These grants aim to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in space technology, addressing challenges such as navigation, situational awareness, and satellite servicing. The AI INSPIRED programme was launched in February 2026 as part of IN-SPACe's Seed Fund Scheme. The selected projects feature a variety of innovative technologies designed to enhance capabilities within the space domain.
Agnikul Cosmos, one of the beneficiaries, plans to develop an edge AI-enabled vision-based terminal navigation module, significantly improving precision landing techniques. Other noteworthy projects include Digantara’s Agentic RSO Evaluation Suite and EON Space Labs’ intelligent optical payload for real-time space situational awareness. The implementation of these projects will involve collaboration among key stakeholders, including the startups, IN-SPACe, and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Additionally, two other entities, Foucault Private Limited and AkashaVeda Technologies, have been chosen for mentorship and technical support, which includes access to ISRO facilities for technology validation. This support structure aims to create an environment conducive to innovation and ensures that emerging technologies can be developed and tested effectively.
The broader implications of this initiative reach beyond immediate technological advancements. By fostering the development of indigenous technologies, IN-SPACe seeks to enhance India’s position in the global space industry. The integration of AI in space operations can lead to improved safety, efficiency, and capabilities, ultimately contributing to the country’s strategic interests in space exploration and utilization. Looking ahead, the success of the AI INSPIRED programme could serve as a model for future initiatives aimed at encouraging private sector participation in the space sector. As these startups progress with their projects, they may open the door to more extensive applications of AI in space, potentially resulting in groundbreaking discoveries and advancements. This initiative underscores a growing recognition of the significance of innovation and collaboration in addressing the challenges of the modern space landscape.
