The International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, recently completed a $3 million renovation of its museum facilities. A ribbon-cutting ceremony held on October 7, 2026, brought together roughly 130 donors, board members, and members of the press to mark the occasion. These upgrades are the centerpiece of a capital campaign called Tennis Forever, designed to modernize the space and better reflect the sport’s evolving history. Working with the Nashville-based design agency Advent, the museum introduced refreshed exhibits, interactive displays, and an augmented reality sculpture. These changes allow the Hall of Fame to display far more of its collection than before, with capacity increasing from roughly 10% to as much as 40% of its available artifacts. This expanded space is intended to provide a more comprehensive look at the legends of the game.

The project involved a collaboration between ITHF leadership, local government officials, and the team at Advent. President Patrick McEnroe and CEO Dan Faber noted that the updates help prepare the institution for an upcoming golden era of tennis, as several high-profile players approach their induction years. Community support played a central role in the project’s success, with local leaders highlighting the museum's contribution to Rhode Island’s tourism and broader economy. By enhancing the museum's appeal, the ITHF aims to deepen public appreciation for the sport while supporting local growth.

Beyond its cultural value, the renovated museum is expected to draw more visitors to Newport. Leadership hopes the new experience will double or triple the current annual attendance of around 40,000. Looking ahead, the grounds will host a new combined ATP/WTA Challenger event later this year. This will be followed by the 2025 induction ceremony, which is set to feature Maria Sharapova and the Bryan Brothers. These events and the recent renovations reflect a commitment to preserving the history of the game while ensuring the Hall of Fame remains a relevant destination for tennis enthusiasts worldwide.
