SuperNova Girls Football Championship Ends with 222 Goals Scored

The inaugural SuperNova Football Championship (SNFC) for girls concluded on September 7, 2026, at Depot18 in Bengaluru. This two-day event marked a significant milestone in promoting girls' football, featuring a total of 69 matches across three age categories: U13, U15, and U17. Organized by Capri Sports as part of their Nova Sports initiative, the tournament aimed to create an inclusive and competitive environment for young female athletes. With a remarkable 222 goals scored, the championship showcased the talent and enthusiasm of girls in football, setting a new standard for school-level competitions.

The event featured teams from various schools, and matches were played on multiple pitches, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of elite-level football. Both schools and parents praised the organization of the tournament, appreciating the attention to detail and the professional format. The high level of competition was evident, as teams played vigorously, resulting in closely contested matches that kept spectators engaged throughout. In the U13 category, Anvesha Pandey from Greenwood High emerged as the Top Goalscorer with an impressive tally of 20 goals. Tanvi Maheshwari of Headstart Academy was named Best Goalkeeper, while A S Mithra Hayathi of Greenwood High received the Most Valuable Player award.

The U15 category saw Aayushi Karanth from Greenwood High taking the Top Goalscorer title with 16 goals. Anaisha Gupta of Headstart Academy was awarded Best Goalkeeper, and Richa Bhatta of Greenwood High was recognized as the Most Valuable Player. In the U17 category, Kakulavaerapu Krishna Manogya of DPS Bangalore East scored 10 goals to become the Top Goalscorer. Preksha of DPS Bangalore East was named Best Goalkeeper, and Vaishnavi M of M.S. Dhoni School, Hosur, received the Most Valuable Player title. The championship drew special attention with the presence of Indian women’s national football team player Dalima Chhibber, who expressed her excitement about the event.

She emphasized the importance of providing young girls with opportunities to showcase their skills and learn from each other. Chhibber noted, "It has been amazing to see the energy, enthusiasm, and excitement that every young girl has brought to the Championship."
