Chosen from over 200 applications, these fellows represent six states, one union territory, and ten districts across India, highlighting their innovative approaches in experiential learning and STEM education.

Vivo India has selected 10 educators as National Teacher Innovation Fellows as part of its vivo Ignite 4.0 program, which aims to enhance the STEM education ecosystem in India. The fellowship received over 200 applications, with 30 educators advancing to the interview stage. Ultimately, 10 were chosen from six states, one union territory, and ten districts. The evaluation process focused on four criteria: Innovation in Teaching Practice, Inclusive and Adaptive Teaching, Real-World Impact and STEM Application, and Vision, Leadership and Scale. A panel of nine experts from various educational and STEM organizations conducted the assessment.
The selected fellows include R. Chandrasekaran from Tamil Nadu, who leads the 'Your Problem, Your Solution' initiative, engaging tribal students in developing solutions for community challenges. He has positively impacted over 10,000 students and supported 72 projects. S. Mani from Assam founded 'Akashavidyalaya - Sky School of India', encouraging students to explore astronomy through hands-on activities, reaching over 2,000 students across 11 schools. Nitesh Kumar from Haryana employs a 'Problem-to-Prototype' approach in AI and robotics, engaging 10,000 students in over 500 projects. Other notable fellows include C. Manikyam Reddy from Tamil Nadu, who uses a hands-on approach to teach physics, and Neeru Mittal from Delhi, who runs 'Masti ki Prayogshala', a STEM initiative that has reached over 4,000 students.
The diversity of the fellows highlights the innovative methods being applied in various educational contexts across India. Geetaj Channana, Chief Corporate Communications Officer at vivo India, emphasized the importance of recognizing educators who create environments for innovation and problem-solving among students. The National Teacher Innovation Fellowship aims to foster a culture of experiential learning and inclusivity in education. By acknowledging the contributions of these educators, vivo Ignite seeks to inspire a broader movement towards innovative teaching practices.
The program not only recognizes individual achievements but also creates a ripple effect that can motivate other educators to adopt similar approaches in their classrooms. Looking ahead, vivo India aims to expand the fellowship program, potentially increasing the number of fellows and the scope of their initiatives. This could lead to a greater impact on the education landscape in India, fostering a new generation of thinkers and innovators who can tackle real-world challenges. The significance of this initiative extends beyond immediate outcomes, as it contributes to the overall enhancement of STEM education in the country.
