Applications are now open for the IndiaAI Fellowship 2026-27, a program designed to provide financial support to students engaged in artificial intelligence and related research. As an initiative of the IndiaAI Mission, the fellowship assists those who intend to develop AI-based solutions and gain practical experience in the field. The program is open to a range of applicants, including undergraduate, postgraduate, Integrated Dual Degree, and PhD students.

The scale of financial assistance is tailored to the student's level of study. Undergraduates and those in Integrated Dual Degree programs can receive up to ₹1 lakh, while postgraduate students may qualify for grants of up to ₹2 lakh. For PhD candidates, the support includes a monthly fellowship and a research grant, with the specific terms depending on their enrollment status and program requirements. This funding is intended to allow students to dedicate themselves fully to their academic and research work within the AI sector.

Beyond this primary support, students who have their research papers accepted at recognized international AI conferences may be eligible for supplemental travel grants. These awards can cover up to ₹1 lakh in travel and accommodation costs, helping researchers participate in global academic exchanges and discussions.

Eligibility for the fellowship depends on the specific requirements of each academic track. Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least three full-time AI courses and met certain academic benchmarks. Students in the final years of an Integrated Dual Degree can apply if they have fulfilled the necessary coursework, while postgraduate and PhD candidates must also meet the academic standards relevant to their specific programs.

The initiative is available to Indian nationals across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including engineering, science, medicine, law, commerce, business, and the liberal arts. By offering these opportunities, the IndiaAI Fellowship seeks to cultivate a new generation of researchers and practitioners who will contribute to the growth of AI technology throughout India.
