Indo-Russia Technology Hub Signs Four MOUs at Innoprom India 2026

The Indo-Russia ‘Innopraktika’ Technology Hub marked a significant milestone at Innoprom India 2026 by signing four strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance technology, innovation, and industrial collaboration between India and Russia. CEO and Executive Director Debjit Chakraborty represented the Hub as the agreements addressed diverse areas, including artificial intelligence in healthcare, advanced electronics manufacturing, cross-border investment facilitation, and the establishment of a new India–Russia Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (CoE). This initiative underscores the Hub's crucial role as a bridge between the innovation ecosystems of both nations.

Historically, the Indo-Russia collaboration in technology has sought to leverage the strengths of both countries in science and engineering. The most significant of the four agreements is the Cooperation Agreement to establish the India–Russia Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. This partnership includes the Indo-Russia ‘Innopraktika’ Technology Hub, the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and the RUSSOFT Software Developers Association. Designed as a collaborative institution, the Centre aims to foster joint projects and knowledge exchange between the two countries, grounded in principles of equality, mutual benefit, and trust.

Implementing these agreements involves multiple stakeholders, including technology firms and academic institutions. The Centre of Excellence will focus on supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from both nations, facilitating direct partnerships and collaboration. It will also engage with leading academic institutions, such as IIT Gandhinagar, to promote student and faculty exchange programs, embedding research and knowledge-sharing at the core of the India-Russia partnership.

The broader economic implications of these agreements are significant, aiming to enhance technology trade between India and Russia, particularly in high-technology sectors like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and medical technologies. The agreements also encompass projects in cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and industrial digitalization, which are expected to yield long-term benefits for both economies.
